October 2003

Marathons and traffic jams couldn't keep these guys from climbing. We drove down to Lake Tahoe to meet up with the usual gang of misfits for some outdoor quality time, but we ran into a minor snag. Even though Ken and I headed south on 89, and met up with very little problems, the Ben's, Nikki, Lt, Bub and little Bub kind of got stuck. They wanted to head north on 89 (cause they were coming from Sacramento) and met up with a road block. See, no one told us that there was a marathon going on around half the lake, which caused north bound 89 to be temporarily closed. The solution, meet the gang in South Lake Tahoe, which we did, now what? Well it looks as if climbing at Emerald Bay was out of the question, it would take forever to get there by driving around the lake. Well, we ate lunch at some 50's style diner and slowly made our way to Pie Shop, another popular climbing spot. But no one was really looking forward to it, because by the time we get there it would be very, very hot--no shade. Well, to make a long story short, everyone opted to drive the hour or so around the lake to Emerald Bay, and that's what we did. On the next few pages are the pictures from our trip.
